I’m a firm believer of DIY beauty care – after all – once a month facial – doesn’t do it right? I don’t normally get the expensive stuff – but if I find them on sale – I would definitely buy some. I’m not crazy about stocking up mask – because they probably are old and going to expire. So some friends asked why I have these DIY Mask. Well, as we all know – the weather – the air and all the dirt that is accumulated and the moisture lost – when we are doing our daily stuff – it’s nice to sit back at night after a shower and put on your DIY mask and replenish the moisture and take out any impurities on our skin. And if you don’t take care of your own skin – who is right? So what kind of regimen do you have at home – that helps you looking young and beautiful?
The Body Shop Canada is having a skin care kit sale for only $12 – usually going for $25 – this is more than a 50% sale – and if you travel quite a bit or even little – this is a handy kit to have. They have different kits for different skin type – but I’m getting the New Wise Woman Starter Kit – because I have older skin. The best thing I like about Kose Japan is they have all your records even if you are not buying from the same store. So lets say – you bought something a month ago – from a store and then go to another store – and wonder if you bought an item recently – or tried it before – they can just put in your info on the computer and they have everything you ever bought from them or the facial appointments you have had. Pretty cool eh? I think they probably use some kind of document management software to track all info and distribute it on all their Kose counter’s computer.
Anyhow – the girlfriend from Japan sent these over and told me that in the record in Kose Japan – the things that she had bought for me thus far shows that I’ve used more than 50 bottles of Sekkesei and the counter girl had asked her if i wanted to try something else. The problem is – i haven’t had a chance to try anything new – because over here – where i lived – we don’t have a Kose Counter or a beauty shop – quite the bummer right. So for now – I just have to continue using the Sekkesei lotion – i love masking my face with it.
So I went for another facial because the girlfriend that i had booked for the session didn’t want to go – but as soon as i went in – i found out that they had the same promotion next month *sigh* – had i known i wouldn’t have gone again so quickly. Oh well – what can you do. I went in a hurry this time – and that was a few days ago – but yesterday – i found that my skin was kinda blotchy – kinda dry – a wee bit worried now.
So what would you do ? do you call your esthetician and inform her about it? will she get offended? what can she do about it? will you go back to her again? I’ve slapped on more cream than usual today – so i’ll wait a few days and see how it goes – in the meantime – i’m gonna sign up for a sauna session for the next 1 month and see if i can get rid of some toxins.
So we received some holiday invitations for the summer – and one of them was from our local spa – inviting us for a facial at 50% off their regular price for the month of July. But the catch ? only on Fridays – and how can i miss out on half price facials right? So i quickly called for an appointment – just in case the spaces are filled – and got into it a few weeks ago – but I also made another for the end of the month – so that i can take full advantage of the facial – greedy much ? hahha!!!
So how did the facial go? I went for the Signature Facial – at its original price it was $80 but since it’s only half price I paid $40 + taxes. The signature facial is customized specially for the individual and because i needed deep cleansing – it was also included in the facial. The esthetician was informed that i had anxiety problem if i was laid flat too long – so she tried to raise me up during masking time and i truly appreciate it. I had a wonderful facial – but more massage would be welcome – but never mind – come end of this month – i’m going for another – to pamper myself – i can’t wait ! Love summer invitations like these don’t you?
The kid was having fun with some maglite led flashlights one day and was checking out my skin and said this to me – “mummy!! you have wrinkles!” I replied – “Thank you very much, kiddo!” haha! Anyhow, i really needed a moisturizing cream – so while we were out at Walmart – i decided to check in on some – you see i normally buy only from Lancome, Kose or Body Shop.
I saw the Aveeno brand on sale and decided to check it out. This is called the positively ageless daily moisturizer with SPF 30. I like both the ageless for wrinkles and the SPF part – because it had been a really hot summer so far. Say to help protect the skin from signs of aging and it is supposed to lift and firm the skin. And at 45 – you and I know I certainly need it. I haven’t tried it yet but i mostly will let you know when i try it tonite – i’m quite excited to try anything new – but if you have sensitive skin – don’t be so gung-ho like me eh.
A few months ago, my girlfriend from Malaysia sent me some Bodyshop gifts and a book on quick weight loss during my birthday and I had kept it till yesterday to try the Deep Sleep Soothing Shower. I kept them till now because they were so expensive – these 2 presents cost my girlfriend like $50 cdn! more than i would have spent on myself – so i am grateful and also want to keep them for special occasion.
I was tired and agitated yesterday – so decided to open it and give it a try. The smell was like citrusy and it was supposed to calm the body and soothe all tiredness away. I used very little of it – and it didn’t take much to lather. Easy to wash off and don’t leave you with a greasy feeling. I don’t know if i am tired or if it worked so well that it helped me sleep immediately but restorative night’s sleep – hmmm.. not really -i had bad dreams all night hahah! But overall, i do like it but i won’t pay so much for a shower gel. I thank my girlfriend for being so generous – so i will only use it when i really need it.
So we’ve all heard of sunscreen and suncare and we religiously use them when we are out in the sun – but what about after sun care? what is after sun care i asked the girl at Lancome counter – so she explained after whipping out her Acer Aspire and showing me the diagram of what the after sun care will do for one’s skin. You see the After Sun Care from Lancome is supposedly to have a skincare formula to help fight against premature ageing and to reinforce the skin’s natural defences after the sun. Created specially for the face – the rich lotion, can give your skin the freshness and soothing sensation and rehydrate your skin after the sun. It cost like $34 but i think it is worth it. What about you ?
Some of you might not have heard of Infrared Sauna but before coming to Canada – i had started out on doing it followed by a massage because they said it gets rid of toxin in our body. And for someone who doesn’t exercise very much and am indoor a lot – or in my situation – has winter like 6 months a year – you really need to take care of your body. It’s a 30 mins session and i’m sure you can spare it – only $15 – people say it’s good to do it daily – but who can afford $15 a day right? that would be way more expensive than any hemorrhoidal treatment , so i opted for once a week instead – that would be $60 a month – not too bad i would say.
