My spouse’s niece came to me the other night and asked me about the best acne remedies – she is a teenager and she hated that she was being teased for her acne on her face and her body. She keeps clean and as hygienic as possible but she is still getting acne – and it is kinda embarrassing for her. She had also started going for expensive facials and it didn’t seems to help at all – so she wants to know my opinion. I re-directed her to some sites that I know and are reputable about acne and told her to stop going for facials because sometimes it aggravates it more than help the acne and acne needs to be treated with special acne cream – or to see a dermatologist which we do not have here in this town. So the next best thing to do is to get the best acne cream that has this money back guaranteed offered online. I feel so bad for her and hope it works for her.
I haven’t done a spa party for a long time – coz’ i haven’t found anyone I want to do a spa party with – but I’m going to be organizing one really soon. What gave me the idea? a local spa was promoting an offer for a yonka facial, a pedicure and an infrared sauna treatment – for only $99 + tax – for the entire month of May. Now that’s not a bad offer at all – don’t you think?
The spa party is meant for my deserving girlfriends who’ve worked very hard – and have very little time for themselves – so this spa party is actually a pedicure party – and it will be with my 4 girlfriends plus myself. I hope we can get it done before the end of this month – but I know that one of us will be out of town at the end of the month. I’m pretty excited about it.
We received a baby girl announcement from Paper Culture baby announcements from a dear friend in SF – and it was a beautiful baby announcement card. I wished I could have done the same for my kid when she was born. But I didn’t know about all this on the internet 7 years ago. Having a baby is such a huge thing for us mummies and had I known about this special announcement cards – I would spare no cost – to announce to the world about my JOY. So I envy my friend and her baby – when I received the special announcement card – and I so loved it. So here I am looking at this beautiful baby and wondering what to get her – and decided that I should get her a skin care basket. What could be more wonderful than to keep a baby skin all smooth and silky soft right? start them young and start them right – my mother used to say.
So we had new teflon hose put in the home for our water heater because our water heater was getting old and we want to make sure that the kids don’t burn their skin while using the shower and to keep the shower safe for everyone. So we were all happy that a new hose had been finally put in after 7 years in this house of ours – as recommended by our contractor. Now I don’t have to worry about the water heater anymore at home – and we can take our shower using our hot water heater from now on – I don’t mind using the old hose – but it is getting out of shape and all – it’s definitely safer now. We were also told that teflon hose are the best – so even though it was a little more expensive – I think it was worth paying for.
So we all know we have to sleep enough – like 7 – 8 hrs a day – drink lots of water – eat healthy – less meat more veggies and exercise to have great looking radiant skin BUT how many of us do that right? I for one – am guilty of not doing a lot of the mentioned here. So what do one do – if you want radiant skin?
My skin therapist told me that when your complexion is not radiant – it’s because of all the toxin that is in our body – so to get a radiant looking skin – one has to treat it from the internal first. Like cleansing your body with a lot of clear water – not coffee, tea or pop. Take multi-vitamins that are water soluble – so that it reaches your skin and not your bloodstream. Lucky for me, I love green tea – it is said to be a great remedy for a radiant skin – so try that out – but of course, moderation in everything else is great.
I also use the crystal collagen mask for my weekly home- treatment – they are cheap and very effective. The ingredients are herbal – so it’s very popular in Asia. Anti- aging effect as well as whitening – love it!
I’ve heard many a times that honeycomb is a beauty food – and it can help your skin to glow – but like everyone, we don’t know how true it is. One can consume it in your pancake syrups I supposed or you can use the honeycomb and massage into your face as a daily ritual. It is said that by doing that – one can reduce wrinkles, it also acts as an exfoliant – natural honey like the honey comb is said to draw moisture to the surface of your skin. Not only is it a germ killer – it can be used as an anti – irritant as well. So try give it a try if you like and honeycomb but I know back home they had some on sale – at the reflexology place that I go to – and they were pretty expensive – maybe that’s the reason why people don’t buy it as often as they want to?
I’ve noticed a great number of spa around town offering reflexology – and I’ve tried one out just because – after all, I do missed my weekly session with Wang Yang back home – plus a back massage – for about 15 mins. Of course, they come in a package of 10 and 2 free massages or reflex – if you buy the package. A look on the webpage – and it looks like Wang Yan is growing too – I’m happy for them and sad that there is no authentic reflexology here – yes – i’ve only tried one – and I shouldn’t judge – but I wasn’t going to spend another $45 – $55 for another to try it out.
But we all know that reflexology is said to be a treatment good for the entire body. Applying pressure to the various points of under your feet not only improve your blood circulation but helps to balance your body internally. They say it is good for one skin tone too – because reflexology helps to detox your body.
I don’t know of any woman who loves their wrinkles – I sure don’t – I keep telling the spouse – I need to go for botox – in which he laughed and said he don’t think so. Well, I do ! some woman said their wrinkles tell a story – ahhhh – sorry! i rather tell a story without the wrinkles. While the Asian woman are more blessed with less wrinkles till they get much older – our western friends they are not as lucky – most have wrinkles way before they are 40 years old. True drinking and smoking plays a part with your skin glowing or not – but what if you come from a hard life like my mom and she had wrinkles right when she was 40 years old. She didn’t know anything about wrinkle creams or hydroxatone nor could she have afforded it at that time – and my mom still took the best care of her face the way she knew how – oil of ulan ! yup! good old oil of ulan. Wonder if it still exist now though but for me – i look for the best wrinkle cream not that I can afford a very expensive one – but who wants to go out and look like the spouse’s sister eh?
When I was very young, I used to have very bad rash on my neck – just my neck – I don’t know why – neither can a skin specialist explained it. My mom used to say that it had to do with my dad’s genes -and I’m glad that my daughter doesn’t have the same problem. I remembered my mom used to bring us to the beach so that it will help with the itch – so she said – I didn’t really feel that it helped with the itch – truth be told but I guess there is some truth in what my mother said.
Apparently there are healing properties in sea water because the dead skin left on my neck with all the scratching and scaring - with the sea water – it removes the dead cells and restore moisture. I’m guessing if I did keep at it – it might help but going once in a while to the beach – didn’t help that much. But the spouse has very dry skin – so this summer I’m going to make him go to the beach a lot more and have him soak himself in the sea water. According to what I read – there are all sorts of goodness in the mineral deposit in the sea water that can boost one’s skin immunity – making it more firm and detoxify the fat deposits too. So the next time your kids want you to go to the beach – think of all the good stuff it can do to your skin.
Many years ago, someone told me about when one is taking a shower – it is good to turn on cold water at the end of your shower because by shocking your skin – it helps to increase your blood circulation in your body. But now – I read on a beauty magazine that it not only does that – it also reduces cellulite!!!! the hateful thing we all loathe to see whenever we shower. But hang on there is more to that cold water i read - your hair becomes shinier when you get out of the shower and you come out with natural rosy cheeks – pretty adorable i think. Cold water also reduces muscles inflammation and boost your immune system – so you won’t catch the cold or flu as much as your co-workers and most importantly for all the beautiful ladies out there – it helps to even your skin tone – now that is a real plus – so I’m going to try the cold water remedy from today onwards – try it yourself and see what it does to your skin. My grandmother said that this has been practice for centuries.
