Every now and then, the spouse and I get invited to dinner and fund raising – and these are events that we need to get dress up for. This is one of the gown that I like wearing for these events – not only do I stand out – because it’s a Chinese cheong sum but a modern one. But since I’m prone to acne on my back, I have to make sure I clear those acne before any upcoming events, I’m just glad that I do not have nodular acne for I hear they can be very painful. While some people are plagued with acne on their faces – mine is the back – how weird is that right? but yes – when I was younger I couldn’t wear any dresses that wear halter neck or bare back – but now that I know how to treat flare ups – I don’t have to be deprived of wearing what I want.
I eat broccoli on a daily basis – almost anyway and I wonder why my skin doesn’t glow! I read that to maintain beautiful skin you need to eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies. I can’t eat too much fruits because I am diabetic – but I definitely eat a lot of broccoli and lean meat (mostly seafood and chicken). One of my New Year’s resolution is to have glowing skin and I’m wondering why the broccoli isn’t helping? maybe because it isn’t home cooked? since I buy them from a chinese restaurant? or maybe I’m not drinking enough water??!!!?? I’m going to work harder this year on my food and fruits and most importantly the water department.
Some of the basic nutrients present in broccoli are vitamin C, vitamin A (beta-carotene), folic acid, and fiber. Apart from this, it is also one of the prime sources of calcium for those who don’t consume dairy products. Due to all these basic nutrients, broccoli is considered helpful in controlling many serious health problems like high blood pressure, arthritis, colon cancer and cancer.
Broccoli is also rich in some of the major antioxidants like vitamin c and beta-carotene. This makes broccoli a “super vegetable” that can fight cataracts, heart disease, and several cancers. Moreover, the recent research of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore clearly stated that broccoli has sulforaphane that helps in reducing the chances of getting cancer-causing agents in your body.

I never knew that the Shea Body butter from the Body Shop smelled so nice – it’s like wearing perfume – and also moisturizing your skin. My blogging friend had bought this for me in April last year during my birthday and I just had a chance to use it recently and boy! i’m never going back ! I’ve always thought that these butter were gonna be too oily for me – but nope – or my skin is just too dry. It went on perfectly and it smelled very good for hours on me.

I normally prefer my body lotion to be in bottle form – instead of me digging into a tub – but the Body shop only have it this way I guess – and since I liked it so much – I just have to suck it up and use it the way they have it. It’s not cheap to buy a body butter – at $30 a tub – but it’s worth it for sure.

So someone just complimented me on having great complexion – and that I look not 45 but 35 – hahahaha! but yes – I noticed my complexion is better too – thanks to changing some of the skin care products that I am using now and the facial wash. You see – expensive isn’t the best – and the less expensive also isn’t – so what is – i hear you asking? something suitable for your skin of course and doing it regularly – like everyday – and not when you have the time or remembers it.
So what am I using now – I changed back to using The Body Shop stuff and I noticed that I’m doing great – my skin I meant. But yes! I think I am going to continue using The Body Shop products for now and see if it continues doing good for my skin. what do you use and swear by it?

Children have flawless skin – and we all admire that – we often wonder why can’t our skin stay this way eh. Look at my daughter – she has a pearl color skin and flawless if you asked me and I would give anything to have skin like hers. There are no special care for a child skin – and one often wonder – what kind of skin lotion must we give to our children – but as far as I know – beside Johnson’s Baby lotion – no one dares try anything else. So if anyone knows what to put on a child’s face – let me know.

We were in the city about a few weeks ago – and I had gone crazy with Body Shop stuff – spending closed to $100 on skin care alone. This was one of the new things that I had bought to try. You see – my skin wasn’t getting any better – with the different local stuff that I had bought here – so after years of changing and trying – I said to myself – that’s enough – i was going to try Body Shop again. This facial wash is supposed to minimize the signs of aging and create a velvety looking complexion. After using it for a few weeks – i love it ! and recommend it too to anyone who wants softer skin. The Pomegranate seed oil is doing what it is supposed to do i am guessing – more on other Body Shop products later.

Many years ago – I had a little bit of streaks of pigmentation on my cheek – the right side to be exact – and nope it sure didn’t looked good. I’ve asked my beauty therapist – if there was anything I can do about it – but she offered no help. I had gone for facial every 3 weeks and the more I went – the more visible – the pigmentation was. Of course I panic! so I looked up to see if there was any home remedies I can try myself at home or if there was something I can buy from somewhere.
It is said that there are some food that one can avoid if you have face pigmentation: coffee, tea, chocolate, ice cream, pastries, toffees, acidic things, spices called garam masala. So I did away with all these for a while – but I also used lemon juice and basil leaves. This is great for getting rid of pigmentation marks and dark circles that may have been a long-time problem. Place them all around your face and your skin should lighten up.

Girls have acne and so does boys as well. Girls feel awkward when they have acne but boys are worst – I think they feel no one wants to be near them and their lives are over – because they will never get a girlfriend ever. Yes ! that was what the nephew used to think. Besides reading up on acne tips and using the Seikisho Black Soap from Kose – we had him drink lots of water too. The Seikisho black soap smells really funky – but it’s a ultra gentle foaming cleansing bar – and because it is a bar of soap instead of a tube form – it is not so embarrassing for the boys to carry around with them and use them whether in a friend’s house or camping. Te soap has herbal extracts of citrus Unishu , Coix Seed Extract, Angelica Extract and Chamomile Extract. Did it work for him? yes for sure! but it wasn’t just the soap – he had to follow up with all his acne tips, drink plenty of water and eat lots of fruits.

I went to get my eyebrows and upper lips waxed the other day and when I was paying for it – the receptionist gave me the credit card slip and reminded me that I can write in the tip if i wanted to. I don’t usually tip my hairdresser or beautician – what about you? what is the regular etiquette about tipping for your esthethician anyways? So i looked around and asked around and apparently tipping is a must – but my haircut and waxing is really expensive here in this town – so must I tip still? I hate to part with more money than I should – but I guess it is nice to tip – so next time I think I should tip? what say you?

Received in the mail today in presentation covers and registered post about this new product in the market. I was quite impressed because all the information and brochures were clearly a work of art. I did enjoy looking through all the products in it and am thrilled that I was invited to test some of their products. Yes – the first impression to anything is very important – so having it lovely covers was a good choice – plus all the colorful brochures included in the presentation brochure was really eye catching. I’m definitely interested in checking this new product out – what about you?
