I haven’t done a spa party for a long time – coz’ i haven’t found anyone I want to do a spa party with – but I’m going to be organizing one really soon. What gave me the idea? a local spa was promoting an offer for a yonka facial, a pedicure and an infrared sauna treatment – for only $99 + tax – for the entire month of May. Now that’s not a bad offer at all – don’t you think?
The spa party is meant for my deserving girlfriends who’ve worked very hard – and have very little time for themselves – so this spa party is actually a pedicure party – and it will be with my 4 girlfriends plus myself. I hope we can get it done before the end of this month – but I know that one of us will be out of town at the end of the month. I’m pretty excited about it.

We recently renovated our basement – did i tell everyone that? last year had been a good year for us – and we had bought some home improvement things around the house too. We also now have some electric fireplaces around the house – and what better the spouse had said then to have the Osim uSqueez Warm placed in front of the fire place and get my legs massaged everyday when I am relaxing with a book or magazine.
I know what you are thinking now – what does this uSqueeze do? well, it massages your leg and soothe your tired muscles and it is said that regular use of it – can only improve your blood circulation. On the Osim machine also comes with foot Rollers to target various health-reflexology points and Squeezing Massagers that totally relax your calves, ankles and feet all at the same time. In the long run – for health purpose – the Osim uSqueeze is the machine not only to relax one – but improves your health for the chinese believe that blood circulation is very important.

The best time ever to buy Body Shop stuff is just after Christmas – but you’ve gotta be fast. I used to procrastinate – and wait for a day or two – but then I missed out on all the good buys. So this year – I was pretty smart – the day after Christmas – I had these ordered but they didn’t shipped it out till 1.5 weeks later – because I didn’t fill in my last name – which incidentally is in my credit card info duh! So I was kinda upset – but they did shipped it out after some phone calls and emails and I received it a week later. So as you can see – I bought lots of stuff – from soap to face cream that I used and shampoos – the box was like almost $100 – but well worth it.

We were invited to a spa party for my kid’s classmate’s birthday and like many parents here – we don’t only have one kid and there is just no way to bring one kid and leave the rest of the kids at home. So the spa also catered to the boys /kids that were brought along with their sisters – by providing gaming computers for those who needed to tag along with their sisters. And I can see that it was a huge relieved for the moms who had to be there to supervised the some 15 kids. There wasn’t a lot of computers at the spa – but it was enough for the boys/kids that had to stay – to amuse themselves. Now if only Starbucks and the local cafe had some gaming computers tuck aside in a private corners, so that moms having their break – or lunch can have a proper sit down – that would be great – don’t you think. After all, investing in a few gaming computers – will go a long way – to get more parents to come and enjoy their lunch or spa – now that’s a good idea.

These days – I don’t shop so much at the Body Shop because I can order from The Cake Shop anytime. They also have them at The Bay at Mic Mac Mall if I am up in the city. Since we have been traveling quite a bit these days – I decided to order this travel pack for my next trip to the city. In the package – comes with bath and shower gel, body mousse for moisturizing your body. Something for a rich bath – if you are tired out from a hard day at a meeting or conference – smells like coconut. Some hand cream to make your hand silky smooth. For $28 – not a bad deal at all.

I went to get my eyebrows and upper lips waxed the other day and when I was paying for it – the receptionist gave me the credit card slip and reminded me that I can write in the tip if i wanted to. I don’t usually tip my hairdresser or beautician – what about you? what is the regular etiquette about tipping for your esthethician anyways? So i looked around and asked around and apparently tipping is a must – but my haircut and waxing is really expensive here in this town – so must I tip still? I hate to part with more money than I should – but I guess it is nice to tip – so next time I think I should tip? what say you?

Woke up this morning with some wrinkles – I’m guessing it’s because I’m not getting enough rest and that anti-aging cream I am using isn’t really helping much either. Some people said Asian skin don’t get wrinkles but it’s not true – at 45 – you get wrinkles like it or not. Now to find some wrinkle creams that really work now that’s the part you have to work on. I thought that all wrinkle creams were the same – till i read more about it – after buying some – that didn’t work. So I stopped buying them – because I didn’t want to spend more money on something that didn’t work right? But if I find something that really works – I don’t really care how much I need to spend on my wrinkle creams – I will keep buying them – I know that not all my wrinkles will disappear but at least I know it will help lighten it or make it less visible.

The only reason why I wanted to go for a regular steam/infrared sauna is to stay fit and to get rid of the toxins inside me. After all, when you haven’t exercise for the longest time – your body become sluggish. So when i signed up for a spa package – i wasn’t expecting to lose 10,000 calories every 30mins i spend inside this box – i was just looking to be healthy. But remember – don’t overdo it because if you are like me and have high blood pressure – I went from high blood to very low blood pressure. So now I only go for a steam or a infrared session once a week. Remember – staying fit is the main idea – not just losing weight in a hurry.

So I went to get a haircut the other day with my daughter and the hairstylist was flooded with calls – with people who needed to sugar their eyebrows. Now that raised my eyebrows too – I am used to waxing my eyebrows – so i asked her what’s the difference? I heard of the stripless waxing – that was something new to me a year ago now when another esthetician recommended it to me. So anyhow – this is what i learned and it is pretty interesting – because according to my hairstylist the ingredient is so easy – you can actually do it yourself – the sugaring i mean. But i would never attempt it myself – because i’m so bad at doing my eyebrows on my own – and i wouldn’t wanna mess up and look horrid – hahah!!
So this is what i learned – the technique of sugaring is from Arabic culture and they have been sugaring for centuries. This technique is said to smooth the skin and make one more beautiful. Sugar wax is a thick, syrupy compound. Many people relate its appearance to honey or soft caramel. Like these sweet substances it is compared to, sugar wax is also extremely gooey and sticky. This makes it easy to apply, and is what causes it to remove hair nicely, as it clings to individual hairs very well. The concoction is also water soluble, which means that, unlike other waxes used to remove hair, it washes away easily with plain water.
No chemicals or artificially made products are used in making sugar wax. Actually, the ingredients are so common you could make the wax at home. Typical sugar wax is made using granulated sugar, water and lemon juice. When hair that has been sugared regrows, it is finer and lighter in color. After continuous sugaring, hair may eventually cease to regrow in these areas. Sugaring is also gentle enough to be used on sensitive skin or areas with varicose veins. So there you have it – have you been sugaring your eyebrows and don’t know about it ? the next time you have your eyebrows reshaped – check with your esthetician eh.

So I went for another facial because the girlfriend that i had booked for the session didn’t want to go – but as soon as i went in – i found out that they had the same promotion next month *sigh* – had i known i wouldn’t have gone again so quickly. Oh well – what can you do. I went in a hurry this time – and that was a few days ago – but yesterday – i found that my skin was kinda blotchy – kinda dry – a wee bit worried now.
So what would you do ? do you call your esthetician and inform her about it? will she get offended? what can she do about it? will you go back to her again? I’ve slapped on more cream than usual today – so i’ll wait a few days and see how it goes – in the meantime – i’m gonna sign up for a sauna session for the next 1 month and see if i can get rid of some toxins.
