The sun is out again today and I cannot but worry about the harmful sun on the kid when she is at the playground playing with her friends.  I loved the playsets at PlaytimeUS.com and wished I could get one to put in our backyard so that I can watch the kid and re-apply the sunblock on her every half an hour but I guess I would just have to depend on the babysitter who goes to the park with her to do it.  And I keep stressing to the babysitter how important it is to keep re-applying the sunscreen on the kid and also to her day camp during summer.  But the kid would come back and say that the day camp councilors didn’t give her time to put it on before going to the playground.   I hate to be naggy about it but if the kid is out for hours playing on the playset in the playground, it really is a must don’t you think?  This year, I think I’m going to ride my bike out to the playground every few hours just to put sun block on the kid but I know they would think I’m crazy – hahah!  or I should buy a smaller bottle of sun block for the kid to hold in her jeans.

I love buying things online but only if they come on sale and sale that is irresistible – I loved spending money but only when it is worth it.  Before coming to Canada – I would spend on anything and everything without thinking of money but these days – when you are spending your spouse`s money – you have to be accountable for what you spend even though he doesn`t ask.  So when you get a buy 5 for $10 each deal from the body shop plus free shipping – I had to get some stuff even though I don`t need them now.  Eventually, I would need them – so why not buy it when it is cheap.

But these days, I`m torn in between being a smart shopper and buying only what you need when you need them because of the sudden death of my mother-in-law.  After all, you can only eat and spend so much like the old chinese saying – so lets say I buy so many things and stock up and I die suddenly – who is going to use them right?  the kid is too young to use them and the spouse wouldn’t touch them with a stick – so also a waste of money.  Yes, so nowadays I do buy extras but not as crazy as before for one never know what is going to happen tomorrow.

I went wedding dress shopping with a friend and she found one that she really liked and simple.  But as simple as it was it was elegant and it would be something I would wear too.  Having said that – this wedding dress was cheap unlike the ones in Asia where they cost 1000s of dollars to get a wedding dress.  Thus far the most expensive wedding dresses are like $500 and you get to buy them and not just rent them.  So if you are from Asia and need a wedding dress – come over for a holiday in Canada and buy a few – to own and re-sell it once you are done with them.

So I told you about the Roots 25% sale last week and yes, I did get my french tote and in an orangy brown color.  It arrived today and quicker than I thought thru’ Fedex !  woohoo!  and I loved it.  Loved the color and even though the father-in-law thought that $150 for a tote aka shopping bag like was a wee bit expensive – I don’t care – I loved it.

There is no lining inside – so you know – and it’s got this weird leather smell that I don’t really like at the moment – but it will go away in time I’m sure.  But overall, it was a good $150 spent.  I’m looking forward to getting more bags from Roots when they have them on sale.

I can’t wait for warmer weather to come because i want to enjoy my backyard and my patio and suntan on my patio chair this summer.  No more going to the beach for suntanning – or going to a spa for it.  I loved the patio chairs so much I told the spouse that i need to get some of these and have my girlfriends come over and sip lemonade and suntan together with me.   But I think I want to show off my newly build patio and the new patio chairs that I am getting to my friends more than anything – of course the suntanning part is great now because we are going to have fence all over my backyard – yay!   Summer come quick pleaseeee..!!

Since Roots Canada is having a Appreciation sale during the weekend – I just had to get something – for 25% off the total price – you can’t beat that price right even though I don’t need another handbag.  But wait a minute – I’m torn in between the different colors and of course, my friends tells me to buy all 3 but i already have a black one and don’t need 3 tote bags.   This is a french tote bag – and made of Prince leather – anyhow I ended up getting the orange one – would have loved the pink one – but I think I would lose it immediately to my daughter – for she loves pink.  so I paid like $150 tax included and no shipping – can’t wait to get the bag and post a picture here for all to see.

I had been trying to decide if I should join a private gym or should I just go to the YMCA which is a lot cheaper.  I planned to tone up some muscles and really need some help with it.   Some friends recommended the alpha t1 to us – but it had to be supplemented with good exercise as well.   I wanted to tone up my arms and my legs not because of wanting to look good but because I feel that some muscles is a good thing to have even as a lady.  The YMCA does not give me as much info as I needed and looking at the private gym – it’s not even as expensive as we all imagine it to be -  so I may consider a private gym instead.

If you are wondering what the volumizer does – look at Julia Roberts in Vanity Fair April 2012 issue – this was what she had used for the photo shoot.  I too have thin hair and always looking out for a product that would make my hair look fuller – and at $23 for a small bottle of spray  – well – it had better be good.  I haven’t tried it yet but am going to order it from Barneys New York.
